Building a CAD model from a 1962 Zorki 6 Camera
Goal: To understand the inner workings of the Zorki 6 camera, and create a sufficiently accurate 3D CAD model
The Zorki 6, is a Soviet made 35mm rangefinder camera based on Leica’s products from the same time. The two I have are from 1963 and 1962, the former coming with a Jupiter 8 lens.
I encountered the Zorki 6 while looking for a film camera to buy as a gift. Being mechanical, this one naturally jumped out to me. I chose a different one as the gift (one with a blend of manual and auto capabilities) but took this home for myself. This took me down a rabbit hole of learning how to use a camera (beyond a smartphone), what other cameras were out there, and how they work.
Since purchasing, I have been very tempted to take it apart. Thankfully, the desire to keep the camera working won out. ebay ended up having another available without a lens for £20. This will be the camera disassembled and modeled through the posts.
